The former estate of the world-renowned visionary painter, Morris Graves, is exquisitely beautiful and inspiring with streaming light, lush lawns, ponds, private patios and expansive areas to work at your easels, tables and to gather together inside and out for individual and group instruction and discussion. This 4 day course will focus on the unfolding of visual stories and personal images through drawing and painting and is an exciting and enriching way to expand your unique creativity, imagination, confidence, style and palette and to explore the wonders and special qualities of your art materials. The emphasis on personalized instruction, the freedom to follow your individual artistic path and the building of knowledge and skill within a creative community is the foundation of this retreat. You will have the opportunity to use the finest array of paints, pigments, pencils and papers. This is the perfect setting for ‘Visionary Landscape, Altered Realities and Magical Realism’. There are many people who have expressed their desire to attend An Artists' Retreat and I have decided, during these challenging times, to give a gift of $100 toward a retreat at The Morris Graves Estate.  Now, more than ever, we need to remain hopeful, creative, loving and healthy.

"I was fortunate to experience "An Artists' Retreat" several years ago in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. I was so excited about what I experienced and created that I invited Anna to offer her retreats to my guests at the Sooke Harbour House, our award-winning luxury inn and restaurant by the sea on Vancouver Island, Canada. (voted one of the world’s best inns by Travel and Leisure Magazine) Being surrounded by artists and their creations is one of the most important things in my personal and professional life. Seeing how Anna Rhodes unveils from inside of each one of us our artistic soul and the ability to create incredible works of art is a magical thing. There are no words that can describe or explain the process. Anna Rhodes brings this part of us out, in a joyful and compassionate manner." Hide

AN ART COURSE FOR CREATIVE EXPLORATION

An Artists' Retreat™ with Anna Rhodes
'for the inquisitive beginner, the advanced professional, and anyone wishing to expand creative potential'

Art is not only created through desire, necessity, presence and passion but through acquiring knowledge of materials, techniques, patience and practice.

This is an in-depth concentrated art course designed to encourage instinctive, confident creativity through developing skill and imagination within a creative community. Students experience the unfolding of their unique style and palette and will have the opportunity to explore the wonders of a wide array of the finest pigments, pencils, papers and brushes. Through drawing and composing, painting and layering mixtures of mediums, personalized instruction and group discussion, we will use both experimental and traditional techniques to guide our travels through realism, impressionism and into the realm of magic.

Photographers, chefs, pilots, painters, physicians, homemakers, trapeze artists, architects, executives, teachers and deep-sea divers have found that attending this retreat has infused a new way of seeing into their personal and professional lives.
