Two world-acclaimed inns, The Cypress Inn and The Vagabond's House will host An Artists' Retreat with Anna Rhodes for this unforgettable adventure!
Classes will be taught at the renowned Sunset Center in a large sun-filled studio equipped with individual easels and an array of the finest artists' materials.
The combination of this stunning setting, uniquely charming world-class accommodations, highly personalized service, delicious dining, and a dedicated instructor with an in-depth exploration of art are the ingredients for this unsurpassed experience at one of Condé Nast Magazine's top-ten rated destinations.
In these six day concentrated art courses, designed to encourage instinctive confident creativity, you will have the opportunity to experience drawing, painting, composing, layering and manipulating the finest array of paints, pigments, pencils, and papers in unique and exciting ways.
The emphasis on personalized instruction, the freedom to follow your individual artistic path and the building of knowledge and skill within a creative community, is the foundation of this retreat. Daily demonstrations, individual and group dialogue, videos and inspiring resources are a part of each day.
A detailed list of artist supplies needed for the course will be sent upon your registration. These materials have been chosen for their quality and flexibility and with the intention that you will enjoy using them long after the course.
Both inns provide the allure of old world charm masterfully blended with modern comforts for today's discerning artists and travelers. The Cypress Inn, described as a "bit of paradise," is co-owned by Doris Day and offers a rich history with Mediterranean grace and warm hospitality. The Vagabond's House, a charming brick and half timbered English Tudor Inn, always feels like home with its magical courtyard, fireside reception and the dedicated service of an attentive staff. Both are located in the midst of Carmel's finest restaurants, unique shops and well-known art galleries, just blocks from the famous Carmel Beach.

An Artists' Retreat and PAFA join together to create an extraordinary experience!
The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA), the birthplace of American Art, and the nation's first museum and school of art, has invited Anna Rhodes and An Artists' Retreat to offer a four day in-depth concentrated art course. Past students and teachers of the Academy include, Mary Cassatt, Thomas Eakins, Maxfield Parrish, Winslow Homer, and Odd Nerdrum.

PAFA is situated in the heart of one of the most culturally and creatively stimulating cities in the country, at the intersection of Avenue of the Arts and the famous Museum Mile and has provided inspiration to artists, writers and composers from across the globe. Surrounding PAFA are many treasures of the city, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Rodin Museum, Academy of Natural Sciences ,Franklin Institute and the new, breath-taking, Barnes Foundation.
The Barnes Foundation houses one of the finest and most extensive collections of impressionism, post-impressionist and early modern paintings in the world. Included among the 800 paintings, are Renoir, Cézanne, Matisse, Picasso, Rousseau, Modigliani, Soutine and de Chirico, as well as American masters Demuth, Glackens, Pippin, and Prendergast…..this retreat includes Friday evening at the Barnes!
An Artists' Retreat at PAFA includes:
